Race Engineering
Introduction
The race engineering department is responsible for managing and optimising all aspects of the performance and operation of the race cars at all race and test events. This includes driver communication and performance development, run planning, car preparation, car legality and reliability, car setup, tyre management, simulation support, data analysis, procedure documentation and implementation, and post event reporting. The department works closely with race team mechanics and technicians, factory engineering departments, trackside suppliers, drivers and associated personnel, and race officials. The department includes trackside-based roles attending all races and tests as well as UK-based factory supporting roles with occasional travel. The roles include race engineers and performance engineers. The roles are typically carried out by mechanical / aeronautical / motorsport/ automotive engineers with experience in motorsport.
