F1 Academy: Kaylee Countryman returns in Montreal
May 19, 2026
TGR Haas F1 Team F1 Academy driver Kaylee Countryman is back in action this weekend at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, home of the Canadian Grand Prix, for Round 2 of the 2026 F1 Academy season.
Last time out, Countryman opened her debut F1 Academy season with an encouraging weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit in China. An issue on her final qualifying run triggered a red flag, meaning she couldn’t improve her starting position of P17.
She finished her first race in P16, with further progress made in the weekend’s second race to finish P13.
Following confirmation that the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix wouldn’t take place in April, F1 Academy has introduced a three-race weekend format for select events, including this weekend’s event in Montreal, to restore the calendar to 14 races.
The opening race will be the first of three set on the 4.361km layout, with the grid set using each driver’s second fastest qualifying time.
Countryman has been making good use of the break, in action with ART Grand Prix team, completing a two-day in-season test at Silverstone Circuit alongside regular simulator sessions.
Kaylee Countryman, TGR Haas F1 Team F1 Academy Driver, said: “I’m looking forward to getting back on track with TGR Haas F1 Team and ART Grand Prix for the second round of the F1 Academy season after a long gap. It was great to be back with the team for the Silverstone test in April, especially on such an amazing track. We know what we need to do to improve from the Shanghai weekend, and I’m excited to show what we can do with the work that we’ve been doing behind the scenes.”
