Sho Tsuboi and Nirei Fukuzumi to drive at Fuji Speedway TPC Event
June 25, 2026
TGR Haas F1 Team is pleased to announce a ‘Haas+ Fans First’ event for Japanese supporters, with national racing stars Sho Tsuboi and Nirei Fukuzumi taking part in the team's upcoming TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) event at Fuji Speedway on July 28-29.
Following the success of last year's event, TGR Haas F1 Team will once again bring Formula 1 closer to fans in Japan through a special two-day ticketed experience, offering unprecedented access to the team and exclusive off-track activities. Set against the backdrop of the country’s tallest peak, Mount Fuji, the Toyota-owned Fuji Speedway is a 4.563km (2.835-mile) 17-turn FIA Grade 1 licensed circuit, which last hosted the Japanese Grand Prix back in 2008.
The event marks Tsuboi’s second appearance running with TGR Haas F1 Team in Fuji. For Fukuzumi, it will mark the very first time the Super Formula driver gets behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, an opportunity made possible thanks to the TGR Haas Driver Development Program.
Tsuboi, the 2024 Super Formula Championship and four-time Super GT GT500 Champion (2021, 2023, 2024, 2025), has established himself as one of Japan’s leading racers. A graduate of Toyota's driver development programme, Tsuboi has been a part of the ‘TGR Haas Driver Development Program’ for a year, making his debut with the team last year in Fuji.
Fukuzumi has enjoyed a diverse career spanning both Japan and Europe. Debuting in the 2016 GP3 Series, he finished third in the standings in 2017. After one season in Formula 2 in 2018, Fukuzumi returned to Japan to compete in Super Formula and SUPER GT, becoming the 2019 Super GT GT300 champion and a race winner in both categories, including a recent Super Formula victory at Suzuka. Fukuzumi currently competes for GAZOO Racing / ROOKIE Racing, continuing to demonstrate strong competitiveness at the highest level, while ROOKIE Racing’s partnership with TGR Haas F1 Team this year further strengthens the collaboration pathway.
Fans attending the event will have the opportunity to witness both at the iconic Fuji Speedway while enjoying a variety of exclusive activities across the two days. Making a return will be the popular ‘Gekikan Pit’, giving fans a unique opportunity to watch the action from immediately beside the TGR Haas F1 Team garage and experience the sights and sounds of Formula 1 up close.
Former Formula 1 driver and three-time Le Mans 24 Hour winner, Kazuki Nakajima – Vice Chairman of TOYOTA RACING GmbH, will be present throughout the event. As a key figure in the ‘TGR Haas Driver Development Program’, Nakajima will be present on-site to provide advice and support to the drivers at Fuji. Nakajima will also participate in fan meet-and-greet opportunities, autograph sessions and stage appearances alongside Tsuboi and Fukuzumi.
"I’m very proud to be bringing Formula 1 back again this year to Japanese fans through our TPC program," shared Ayao Komatsu, Team Principal at TGR Haas F1 Team. "Last year's event demonstrated the incredible passion for Formula 1 in Japan, and we're excited to welcome fans back to Fuji Speedway. Having Sho return and giving Nirei his first opportunity in Formula 1 machinery will make this a particularly memorable occasion, thanks to the TGR Haas Driver Development Program."
“First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Gene Haas, Ayao Komatsu and everyone at TGR Haas F1 Team,” said Akio Toyoda, Chairman – Toyota Motor Corporation. “The opportunity being given to Japanese drivers to take on the challenge of Formula 1, the pinnacle of world motorsport, is a tremendous source of hope for Japanese motorsport. Following Sho Tsuboi last year, Nirei Fukuzumi will take the wheel this year too. I hope both will give it their all, not only for themselves, but to inspire others who dream of reaching the world stage. I believe that the true value of motorsport lies in its ability to inspire. To all the fans attending, I would be grateful if you can support not only Sho and Nirei, but all the challengers from Japan who are aiming to follow them and receive opportunities such as this one to pursue their dreams.”
