The Dutchman rounds off his maiden F1 Esports season in third place overall in the drivers' standings after a second place finish at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Thomas Ronhaar secured third place overall in the 2022 F1 Esports Series Pro Championship, with Lucas Blakeley (McLaren Shadow) winning his maiden title and Frederik Rasmussen (Red Bull) finishing as runner-up.

The final result of the 12-race season also puts Haas F1 Team Esports third in the Constructors’ Championship on 177 points, marking the American team's best result in its Esports history.

An outstanding rookie season has seen the flying Dutchman collect two wins, seven podiums and 165 points overall. Qualifying second at Yas Marina, Ronhaar started the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on the Yellow medium tire, with all bar one other driver on the grid opting for the harder compound at the start. Ronhaar led the race until his pit stop on Lap 11, where he swapped to the White hard tire. After coming back out in P19, he steadily climbed up the standings as the rest of the grid decided to pit.

Reaching the front once more, it was set to be a wheel-to-wheel battle to the end. But with much faster tires, Rasmussen was able to take the lead in the closing laps and managed to hold on for the win, with Ronhaar – undoubtedly the rookie of the season - coming home second.

Team-mates Matthijs van Erven and Piotr Stachulec finished 15th and 26th in the championship respectively. Van Erven, in his second season with Haas F1 Team Esports, was consistently fighting in the points-paying positions, scoring 12 points from five races, with Stachulec achieving a season-best finish of 11th at Silverstone in his debut season.

“What a season for Haas F1 Esports and R8G Esports,” shared Romain Grosjean, Founder of R8G. “We managed to achieve dream goals thanks to our drivers and to the entire team and winning in the most competitive Esport league is something we can be very proud of. The work for next season has already started as we want to surf on the momentum.”
